The Red Bulls completed the transfer of U.S. National Team centerback Tim Ream to Bolton yesterday. It’s expected to be in the range of $2.75 million to $3 million — a record for an MLS defender — and coach Hans Backe confirms they’ll use some of that allocation money to buy Colombian Wilman Conde as a replacement.
“This was a once in a lifetime chance that I could not pass up,’’ said Ream, who cut his honeymoon short in Tahiti to iron out a 3 1/2-year contract with the Premier League side. — Brian Lewis
