PrintWASHINGTON — This Long Island whiz kid went from homeless shelter to the White House.
Samantha Garvey, a senior at Brentwood HS in Bay Shore, joined a select group of students yesterday at the White House Science Fair hosted by President Obama.
She said her life did a “complete flip” after her parents got evicted on New Year’s Day. After time in a shelter, they eventually got subsidized housing.
Garvey said she was barely able to stand when Obama singled her out to acknowledge her overcoming “difficult circumstances.”
