WASHINGTON — The Mitt Romney express is barreling ahead in Nevada.

The Republican presidential front-runner is headed for a landslide victory in today’s caucuses, according to a new poll that showed him leading by 25 points in the Silver State.

Following his solid victory Tuesday in the Florida primary, a big Nevada victory will give him run-away momentum heading into contests next week in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

A Public Policy Polling survey released yesterday had Romney dominating the Nevada race with 50 percent of support from likely Republican caucus-goers.

His chief rival, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, came in a distant second, with 25 percent. Texas Rep. Ron Paul got 15 percent and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum finished last, with 8 percent.

Gingrich intensified his attacks on Romney for being a moderate, calling him a watered-down version of President Obama.

“It isn’t good enough for the Republican Party to nominate Obama-lite,” he told supporters at a country music nightclub in Las Vegas.
