Judging by this wreck, Lindsay Lohan had a softer touch when she was behind the wheel of Herbie.
The trouble-prone actress wound up in a California hospital yesterday after her rented $80,000 Porsche coupe collided with an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway, leaving her banged up and bloodied.
Santa Monica cops said they were trying to determine what caused the smashup, which demolished the gray sports car.
The “Herbie: Fully Loaded” star was driving at the time, and her assistant was in the passenger seat, TMZ.com reported.
The assistant was taken from the scene by ambulance.
Lohan, whose injuries weren’t life-threatening, declined the ambulance ride, but went to the hospital.
The film star, on probation for a 2007 drunken-driving conviction, denied responsibility for the crash and has insisted that the 18-wheeler cut her off, TMZ said.
Neither Lohan nor the truck driver were under the influence of alcohol, sources told the gossip Web site.
Lohan cracked up the sports car on the way to the set of her new Lifetime TV movie “Liz & Dick.’’
Lohan will star as the late Elizabeth Taylor while Grant Bowler of “True Blood’’ will play actor Richard Burton, Liz’s husband and tempestuous love.
The 25-year-old actress, who has been jailed several times for probation violations, was recently praised by a judge for making good on her community service.
