Mayor's gal: I'm not running

Diana Taylor, the longtime girlfriend of Mayor Bloomberg and a former state government official, said yesterday she won't challenge Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the election.

"I am flattered about the speculation over a possible race for the US Senate, and have enjoyed my years of public service, but I have no intention of running for the US Senate," Taylor said in an e-mail to The Post.

The Post first reported on its Web site Friday that Taylor had been asked to consider running by Washington-based Republicans.

She met with National Republican Senatorial Committee staffers within the past 10 days to discuss the possibility, and hadn't closed the door on it, multiple sources said.

But it would have brought the very private Taylor intense media scrutiny -- a glare that would also be focused on the mayor.
