A former Manhattan prosecutor will challenge Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes in next year’s election and blasted the longtime lawman for his handling of accused pedophiles in the Orthodox community.
Abraham George, who has served in the Manhattan DA’s Homicide Investigation Unit, said Hynes is playing politics by refusing to release the names of accused molesters.
“It’s not protecting the victims,” George said.
A rep for Hynes — who is in his sixth term and ran unopposed in 2009 — declined comment on George’s candidacy.
