Three employees of the Queens Board of Elections were accused of snorting cocaine on the job last month, but officials there never disclosed the incident to police, or even to higher-ups at the board’s headquarters in Manhattan.

At least one eyewitness observed workers in the voting-machine warehouse in Middle Village, Queens, using the illegal drug on primary day, Sept. 13, and reported their behavior to a supervisor, sources said.

The supervisor went up the chain of command to Chief Clerk Barbara Conacchio, who contacted Queens Democratic Commissioner Miguel Araujo.

And that’s as far as it got.

Araujo conducted his own hearing, at which the workers denied the charge and the supervisor refused to name the eyewitness who refused to testify.

Protocol required Araujo, a lawyer, to at least contact his Republican counterpart, Judith Stupp. But he never did. The central Board of Elections described the incident as unsubstantiated and said no further action was required.

“No witnesses came forward to confirm this allegation,” said the board.

Officials claim they can’t compel the supervisor to give up the eyewitness’s name.
