Cop-beat youth’s demand

The lawyer for a teen whose beating at the hands of four cops was captured on a cellphone video is demanding that a special prosecutor investigate the Bronx smackdown.

Michael Warren, who questioned the Bronx DA’s ability to impartially handle the investigation, made the request yesterday during a routine hearing for Jateik Reed, 19, who was arrested on drug-possession and assault charges.

He also faces two separate robbery charges.

“Because of the symbiotic relations between the DA and the Police Department, the DA could not possibly conduct a fair and impartial investigation,” Warren said, referring to the Jan. 26 fracas.

DA spokesman Steve Reed said, “We believe that at the end of the day, they [lawyers for Jateik Reed] will be comfortable with our ability to fairly handle this matter.”
