Delay allows Chiesi to attend family event

9:10 PM, May 4, 2011 ι By KAJA WHITEHOUSE

The sentencing of former New Castle trader Danielle Chiesi, who pleaded guilty to insider trading earlier this year, was pushed back to May 25 to allow the former beauty queen to attend a Vietnam War reunion for a family member.

In a letter to the judge, Chiesi’s lawyer asked that she be allowed to travel to Dayton, Ohio, with her mom, Gloria, on May 13, the original date of her sentencing.

The letter said they plan to attend an event for Chiesi’s uncle, Ronald, who was a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War and is a member of the so-called Red River Valley Rats.

Chiesi will return to New York on May 16, according to the letter.
