CAIRO -- Dozens of soccer fans were killed in riots that followed a game Wednesday in Egypt's Port Said. Al Jazeera put the death toll at 40, citing a hospital source. Most died from head injuries or suffocation, the broadcaster said.

The rioting involved fans of the Al-Ahly and Al-Masry teams, according to state TV. Essex county (NJ) native Bob Bradley _ who coached the MetroStars and the U.S. National Team _ was recently named the Egyptian National Team coach. He lives in Cairo, but according to agent Ron Waxman was not present at the game.

"For those concerned about the welfare of Bob Bradley, he was not at the game in Port Said today,'' Waxman tweeted. "We all mourn the tragic events of the day.''

Videos of the incident posted on YouTube showed Al-Masry fans flooding the field seconds after securing a shock 3-1 home win over Egypt's top team.

Scores of others were reportedly hurt in the ensuing scenes, including players and security personnel, as fans hurled rocks and bottles at one another.

Al-Ahly players were trapped in their locker room along with supporters, according to Al Jazeera.
