Nets lose newcomer Bogans for season

3:13 PM, February 9, 2012 ι By FRED KERBER

The Nets’ injury situation went from ridiculous to absurd on Thursday as yet another player, Keith Bogans, is lost for the season.

Signed by the Nets as a free agent on Feb. 1, Bogans suffered a fractured left ankle and a complete tear of the left deltoid ligament in a freak on-court accident with 2:27 left in Wednesday’s 99-92 loss to the Pistons in Newark. Bogans will undergo surgery on Monday. In five games with New Jersey, Bogans has averaged 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 18.8 minutes.

The Nets are already ravaged by injuries, and played one game this season with eight players. They are already without MarShon Brooks (broken toe), Brook Lopez (broken foot), Mehmet Okur (back), DeShawn Stevenson (knee) and Damion James, who is also out for the season (foot surgery).

Brooks and Stevenson could be returning soon, and Lopez could be back around the All-Star break.
