Sundance 2012: It's a wrap

7:27 AM, January 25, 2012 ι Lou Lumenick

After writing all day on Tuesday --the Oscar nominations, my interview with Ben Lewin, the director of "The Surrogate,'' already up on The Post's website and a best-of-fest roundup to be posted on Thursday -- I'm heading home from Park City today.

I'll be missing the premiere of Michael Walker's debut feature "Price Check'' tonight at Sundance. But I did get a chance to talk briefly with perennial "Sundance Queen'' Parkey Posey, who plays a driven manager for a failing supermarket chain in the movie.

TO 'SURROGATE' WITH LOVE -- AND LAUGHS

Her Sundance history goes back to "Party Girl,'' where premiered in Park City in 1995 -- "I was 24, a baby, and it played at the Egyptian Theater in Main Street. Everything was on Main Stree in those days. You could go into the Claim Jumper [restaurant] and run into filmmakers and drink beer with them I met Paul Thomas Andersn on the street. It's changed so much, become so big.''

Newsweek dubbed here "Queen of the Indies'' in 1997, when she had "Clockwatchers,'' "The House of Yes'' and "SubUrbia'' at Sundance -- "that's when the indies were beginning to get co-opted by the studio system.''

But she thinks things are swinging back in the other direction. Though she served as a Sundance juror in 2010, "Price Check'' is her first Sundance film since "Broken English'' and "Fay Grim'' five years ago.

"It cost nothing and nobody's being paid anything, but it's such a good script and a great experience,' says Posey. "It was shot on digital and everybody has access to a camera, which is great. I should really direct a movie myself.''

Posey will also be hosting the Sundance Film Festival's closing ceremonies on Saturday.
