Wyclef gets hate-y with Sean Penn

Failed Haitian presidential candidate and hip-hop star Wyclef Jean is turning up his nose at critics -- lashing out at one of the most prominent, Sean Penn, by suggesting the actor had been high on cocaine while in the quake-ravaged nation.

Jean was performing his song, "If I Was President," Friday at the Hammerstein Ballroom when he sniped, "I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain't see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine," the Web site AllHipHop.com reported.

Jean announced last month that he was running for president, but officials disqualified him after finding he didn't live there.

Penn, who volunteered after January's disastrous earthquake, earlier slammed Jean's candidacy as mere self-promotion.

"As an ambassador at large, he has been virtually silent," Penn said.

"For those of us in Haiti, he has been a non-presence."
