Nets star Williams already ruled out for Knicks game

Nets guard Deron Williams will miss Wednesday's game with the Knicks with a sore right calf, the same injury that kept him out of Monday's 101-98 loss to the Heat.

"He hasn’t improved enough to where he can play in a game," Nets coach Avery Johnson said after the team took its official team photo. "We’re treating him … hopefully once we get past tomorrow, we’ll have those two days off."

Johnson said that Williams' injury is related to the calf injury he suffered in mid-March that caused him to miss four games.

Johnson said that Williams and the rest of the team, including players out for the season like Brook Lopez and Damion James, will be accompanying the team to Milwaukee for Saturday's game, and that Williams would be re-evaluated during shootaround before the game.

Wednesday's game will be the seventh that Williams has missed this season. He's now missed five with the sore right calf, one with a sore right side and one with a stomach virus.

Gerald Wallace is questionable for Wednesday's game, and was scheduled to go through a workout Tuesday afternoon to test the left hamstring he initially injured Easter Sunday against the Cavaliers. But Johnson made it seem unlikely Wallace would be available Wednesday.

"We’re gonna put him through a hard workout," Johnson said. "He wants to give it a shot, and we’ll see where he is. If he comes out of this workout good with recovery, workout again tomorrow morning and recovers well, then we’ll think about tomorrow night.

"But if there’s any sort of setback, he’s not going to play tomorrow."

Shelden Williams is also questionable for Wednesday's game with a hyperextended left knee.
